Middle Age

A while back, Jim commented that Bailey was beginning to "lose it". Afraid to hear that my puppy was aging, I told Jim to shut it. Then, however, I started to notice what Jim had observed. Bailey, whose facial hair has almost completely turned white, is just not as quick and nimble as he once was. Climbing stairs and running around the house like the puppy that he used to be just is not possible anymore. Bailey frequently loses his footing and slips if he is moving too quickly. When he isn't acting on a rare burst of energy, he is dozing off on the couch or in his bed, perhaps dreaming of his younger and more agile years.

In a few weeks, Bailey will celebrate his sixth birthday. He will officially hit his "middle age". He has already told me that he needs my help in purchasing a flashy new convertible to take his mind off of his aging. We'll see about that.
