Siblings
Prior to the babies' arrival, Jim and I were concerned about how Bailey would adjust to his new siblings. We attempted to prepare him for what loomed ahead by playing babies' cries for him and by introducing the babies to him by giving him one of their hospital blankets to sniff. When we returned home from our hospital stay, I entered the house first and lavished Bailey with all sorts of attention and love before Jim and the babies made their entrance. Once we set the babies down on the floor, we expected Bailey to explore their scents, but he seemed more interested in Jim's shoes! Honestly, he didn't seem to care about the twins!
Since our homecoming, Bailey has shown little interest in the babies. He has actually been a really good boy. Sure, there's been some howling and a bit of stealing, but for the most part, Bailey has given the babies a lot of space. He has spent most of the week sleeping! We do feel badly for him, though, as he isn't getting the attention that once was. We may need to carve out a little more time for Bailey.
Things might change as the babies become more active and mobile, but for now, Bailey has shown that he is a great big brother!
