Let's Go to the Beach

One of the perks of living in our neighborhood is the access to the small beach and lake just a short walk or wagon ride away.  We've visited the beach a few times since we moved to our home last fall - to throw rocks into the water, to sit on the pier, or to play with beach toys.  We've learned to tread carefully through the sand, especially after a rainy day; we've had a few encounters with the "green cigars" left behind by the geese that gather on the shore.

On Saturday afternoon, though, we had a cigar-free visit and a fun-filled stay at the beach.  The twins were already in their swimming gear after playing in their water table in our backyard when we decided to take a walk to the lake.  We threw some sand toys in a beach bag and were on our way!  We stayed just long enough for the twins to become covered from head to toe in sand and dirt and for a little girl to accuse us of stealing beach toys!

We hope to take advantage of the beach as much as we can this summer; maybe we'll even get to the pool once or twice!  Hopefully we don't need to worry about green cigars in there!

It didn't take Maddie long to dig right into the sand.

Maddie and Daddy headed down to test the water.  It was cold.

We've been told that not too many people swim in the lake, but there were a few kids having a ball in it on Saturday.

Maddie and Daddy went back and forth to the water a few times!

Fun in the sun!

Maddie's face was FILTHY after our visit to the beach!  You can see some of the dirt on her face here if you look closely!

My beautiful little beach baby

Just livin' the life!

Life is good.
