When we learned that Grandma Joan's cabin would be available last weekend, we decided to plan for a quick Door County getaway. After arriving late on Friday night, we woke up early on Saturday morning to join Mimi and Papa for a short hike on the Sentinel Trail in Peninsula State Park. It was Maddie and Will's first hike as well as their first rides in their new backpack carriers. With both of the twins falling asleep during the hike, it is safe to say that they enjoyed the walk!
After the twins had a long afternoon nap, we walked them to the campground playground for some fun before they hit the hay for the night. While Mimi and Papa stayed with Maddie and Will, Jim and I enjoyed an evening out, complete with an al fresco dinner in the dark at one of our favorite restaurants, Wild Tomato.
On Sunday, Mimi and Papa made us a delicious breakfast before we loaded up the car and headed to Fish Creek beach for the twins' first beach experience, which was documented with so many pictures that it requires its very own post!
On Sunday afternoon, we reluctantly left Door County for home after the twins had slept off some of their fun in the sand and sun.
We had so much fun in Door County this summer that we have already discussed spending much more time there next summer!
