Walking and Running for a Good Cause

Earlier today, Jim and I participated in Brigg's and Al's Run/Walk for Children's Hospital in downtown Milwaukee. We were running and walking on Team Jenna. Jenny's daughter, Jenna, was a patient at Children's Hospital this past June, when she underwent surgery to partially repair a cleft lip. Jenny and James were pleased and impressed with the service and care that their family received while Jenna was in the hospital. So impressed, in fact, that Jenny organized a team to participate in this year's run/walk.

While most of us on Team Jenna opted to walk the race route, Jim and Chris ran. They started (and finished) ahead of the rest of the team. We took the race at a leisurely pace - so leisurely that at one point, we turned around to find the clean-up crew just behind us! As Jenny noted in her blog post about today's event, stopping for a dozen donuts at Dunkin' Donuts didn't help our pace!

Shelly, Jake, and I completed the 3-mile walk while the rest of the Team Jenna went on to finish the 5-mile walk. Chris and Jim had run across the runner's finish line long before Shelly and I found them.

It was a cold morning for a walk or a run, but we were happy to participate in event benefiting Children's Hospital and all of the families and children that it serves. Thank you for inviting us to walk and run with you today, Jenna!
