Season's End

Two weeks ago, the Milwaukee Brewers played their last home game of the 2009 season. We were in attendance that Sunday. We had purchased tickets long ago when hopes were high that the Brewers might play post-season baseball once again. But alas, the Brewers had kissed their chances of playoff baseball goodbye months ago, and the last home game signified very little.

After last season, the 2009 baseball season was a disappointment for the Brewers and their fans. Still, there were highlights - I was able to attend the Opening Day game for the first time in many years, for instance. I witnessed the singing of our National Anthem by American Idol favorite Danny Gokey (I missed his first pitch). We cheered on the Brewers as they played against the Cincinnati Reds when we followed the Crew on a road trip to Cincinnati. We enjoyed watching the Friday night games from our seats next to our friends, Matt and Kerri and Maggie and Ryan. We took my mom to a game back in August, and attended a few with Mike and Chris. Fielder and Braun were fun to watch, and Casey McGehee showed promise for future seasons.

We will be back for the 2010 baseball season. In the meantime, the Brewers have their work cut out for them in resolving their pitching problems. We look forward to seeing what changes the off-season brings!
