One of the items on my "Fall Bucket List" was to go apple picking with the twins. They weren't quite ready for the apple orchard last year, but I thought that they would enjoy going this year. Rain had ruined our tentative plans to go apple picking a few weeks ago, and we've been busy with other weekend chores and activities ever since. I had all but given up the wish to go apple picking when Jim (Jim!) suggested that we pay a visit to The Elegant Farmer after the Packers game on Sunday afternoon. We changed the twins out of their Packers shirts and into appropriate apple pickin' attire, loaded the wagon into the car, and headed to The Elegant Farmer.
It turned out to be the perfect day for pickin'! Though the ground was a little soft from Saturday's rain showers, it was cloudy, cool, and breezy enough that bees stayed away! The farm was more crowded than we thought it would be, but most of the visitors seemed to be there to pick pumpkins, walk the corn maze, or take a hayride. Since we were only interested in apple picking, we were able to bypass most of the congestion.
We came back from our trip to the orchard with a peck of apples of some variety (we truly didn't care what kind of apples we were picking), about a thousand pictures of Maddie and Will eating apples, and a precious memory of the twins' first trip to the apple orchard. I had an absolute blast documenting the experience in pictures. I would love to return to the farm to pick pumpkins if time allows, but we might have to wait for next year's "Fall Bucket List" for that one!
