The 4th Annual Ugly Ornament Contest

For a while, Sue and Matt debated tweaking this year's Ugly Ornament Contest, but they eventually decided to make no changes to the contest rules. Once the decision was made to keep the contest the same, I purchased an ornament that I believed would trump all other entries in its ugliness: a bikini-clad, winking hippopotamus. I even boasted of the ornament that I had found on facebook a few weeks back; I thought that I had surely found the winning ornament.

Alas, it was not my ornament that took top prize in the 4th Annual Ugly Ornament Contest, but Bobby's: an ornament that resembled a tangled mess of gold ribbon. Jim and I still wonder if Bobby tampered with his ornament - how on Earth could such an ornament be sold in stores? He did buy it at the Dollar Store, though. My ornament came in fifth. Jim's ornament, however, came in last place. He says that he needs to reassess his strategy in choosing his ugly ornaments. Jim typically buys his ornament on December 24th; he thinks that it is easier to find ugly ornaments left on the shelves the closer it is to Christmas Day.

Below are pictures from this year's contest and of this year's entries. What do you think of Bobby's ornament (Pictured sixth)? Was it truly the ugliest?

And the winner is...

Bobby!?!
