Rivalry

Jim and I drove to Madison earlier today to watch the Wisconsin Badgers take on their in-state rivals from Marquette in the men's basketball game at the Kohl Center.

We arrived to our seats in the Kohl Center's upper deck shortly before the teams took the floor. As to be expected, the Golden Eagles entered to loud jeers from the Grateful Red, while the home team drew supportive cheers. The Marquette men appeared intimidated by the excitement in the Kohl Center; the Badgers dominated at the game's start. At one point, Wisconsin led Marquette by 15 points.

Once the Golden Eagles snapped out of their daze, the game got a little more interesting. They pulled within 4 points of the Badgers late in the second half. The Badgers were able to hang onto their lead, ultimately winning the game with a 72-63 score.

Following the game, Jim and I carefully traversed the city's poorly plowed streets (We realize that Madison got more snow than we did, but really...the streets and sidewalks were a mess!) to visit a few of our favorite State Street establishments. We ate dinner at Chin's, which we have missed ever since its Brookfield location closed earlier this year, and stopped in Starbucks for hot cocoa for dessert. We even did a little Christmas shopping at Urban Outfitters.

It was fun to visit Madtown tonight, and it was good to see the Badgers take down their I-94 rival - they needed to after their loss to UW-Green Bay!
