Wasting Time

Earlier today, we drove to Madison with Matt and Kerri for this afternoon's basketball game between the UW-Badgers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Arriving in Madison with hours to spare, we grabbed lunch at the Nitty Gritty (Gritty burger, anyone?). After our stomachs were satisfied, we still had about an hour before tip-off. We decided to head over to State St. for a little shopping. On our trek from the Gritty, we passed these fierce badgers just outside State Street Brats:

Ferocious, eh? Don't go messin' with those Badgers! Our first stop on State was Urban Outfitters, always a source of entertainment. With its inappropriate books and gift items, Urban Outfitters has been making us laugh for years. We knew that we could kill some time in there. While the boys stationed themselves near the book display, Kerri and I did a little shopping of our own and stumbled upon a few treasures. Kerri found a fabulous headband/hat, while I eyed up some new dishes.

When we finally rejoined the boys, I discovered that Jim had found a gem of his own: a replica DeLorean from Back to the Future, complete with the flux capacitor that makes time travel possible!

It was difficult to leave such finds behind, but we had another stop to make. From Urban Outfitters, we headed to University Bookstore, where I bought a Wisconsin hoodie and Jim and Kerri contemplated purchasing these hats to wear for their next Badger games:

Now aren't they special? Jim and Kerri reluctantly put the hats back on the shelf from which they came, and on we went to the Kohl Center. It was game time, and we had sufficiently wasted the time that we needed to.

Oh, and the game...a doozy! The Badgers came back from a 16-point deficit to beat the Lions in overtime 79-71. A great game to watch live, but an exhausting one at that.
