Cape Cod Baseball

Our real purpose for driving out to the Cape while we visited Boston was to check out a Cape Cod Baseball League game.  The Cape Cod Baseball League is a collegiate summer baseball league located on Cape Cod.  College baseball stars play in the league over the summer.  Many Major League Baseball players, including John Axford and Ryan Braun, played in the league during their college years.  The league is comprised of 2 divisions of 5 teams each.  On any given summer day, several baseball games are being played throughout the Cape.

With our pick of games to attend, Jim and I chose a 5:00 match-up between the Brewster Whitecaps and the Chatham Anglers so that we wouldn't get back to Boston too late.  The game was played at Stony Brook Elementary School in Brewster.  We arrived somewhat early to get our lay of the land and take a few photos before the crowds showed up.

And the crowds did show up...it was surprising to see how many people were in attendance once the game got under way!  As far as the baseball that was played on the field...I've seen better.  Yet it was cool to think that someday we might be cheering on one or more of the players in the big leagues!  Jim has kept the list of players for future reference!

It was interesting to see that the players themselves took care of preparing the field for the game.  Can you imagine
Ryan Braun or John Axford doing that now?
