Leapin' Lizards, Feathered Flamingos, and Peculiar Pelicans

On this Earth Day, I thought I'd feature pictures of some of the creatures with which we share our planet. The pictures were captured on our trip to the DR last week.

Little leapin' lizards were everywhere! They were most visible at night, when they'd climb the walls of the resort halls and perch themselves near the hallway lights. On our last day in paradise, I watched as a lizard jumped from branch to branch on a nearby bush.

A group of flamingos (called a stand) called our resort home. The stand waded in the waters of a small pond near the lobby of the resort. We visited with them often, and I snapped many a picture of them.

As reported on GT yesterday, we had an encounter with a confused pelican on the resort's beach one day last week. The pelican was standing on the shore, looking quite perplexed and unsure of what to do. It posed for a few pictures before taking off again.

Happy Earth Day!
