Homeward Bound

We began making our trip back home (and back to reality) on Saturday, April 18th. The horrendously long day of travel did not end until we arrived home at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The day started innocently enough: we departed from Punta Cana at our scheduled departure time, and even arrived ahead of schedule in Miami. We were even able to cruise through the immigration and customs lines! But it was all downhill from there: delayed departures, gate changes, "equipment" changes, and more. When we finally arrived in Chicago, we found that the train that would take us to our car was out of service. Finding no one in the airport to assist us in finding another way to our vehicle, we eventually hired a taxi to drive us to the economy parking lots. Of course, it was raining on the way home as well.

I took the following pictures while boarding the plane that would fly us to Miami. Punta Cana's airport, for the most part, is open to the elements. (Even the airport is beautiful in Punta Cana!) We seemed to have timed our vacation perfectly - it began to rain just as we were taking off (It hadn't rained during the day for the entire trip).

During our flight, we passed over many tropical islands that I believe to have been the Bahamas (Did you know that the Bahamas consist of 2,000 cays and 700 islands?). With mostly clear skies, I was able to see the islands well. I snapped a couple pictures of them:

And so ends my coverage of our Spring Break trip to Punta Cana. If you are interested in seeing more pictures from our trip, you can expect a link to a slideshow of our pictures to be posted to Good Times soon.
