A River Runs Through It

Friday night's torrential rains led to flash flooding across southeastern Wisconsin. A river runs through our own backyard, washing away much of the mulch that we placed in a bed at the back of our lot a few weeks ago. The water rushes down the hill that we live on and through the yards of many on our street, finally pooling in a neighbor's yard just a few houses down the block. We may have water pouring through our yard, but others in the area must have water pouring into the homes. On our way home from Jose's Blue Sombero this evening, we passed a few cars that had gotten stuck on flooded streets. We should consider ourselves lucky to simply have a river running through our backyard.
